Şirince, Turkey

Şirince is a scenic old village across a hill, perhaps the most picturesque one I have ever seen – filled with lovely houses and lush green scenery. The village was previously inhabited by the Greeks until 1924. The Greeks vacated due to the population exchange between Greece and Turkey that year.

Highlights: The town itself, Şirince bazaar, Wine tasting, Olives and food
Duration of Stay: 0.5 Days
How to get there: Shuttle (Dolmuş) from Selçuk to Şirince (20 mins), approx. 3.5 TL each

What to do in Şirince

We didn’t have activities planned in Şirince, so we just spent our time eating, walking around- enjoying the great weather and scenery.

  • EAT – We had lunch in Şirincem Restoran & Cafe and it was heaven. I won’t be able to tell you what we had, but everything we ordered was good! We were also given Gozleme Turkish flatbread freshly made by an old lady. Do yourself a favor and drop by!
  • Wine Tasting – Due to the fantastic location of the village and it’s ideal weather climate, it is the perfect place to grow and produce fruit wines. Fruit wine is EVERYWHERE. You can walk around, ask for a taste – if you’re happy, buy a bottle and enjoy.
  • Eat Olives – I love Olives, and Şirince has the best olives I have ever tasted. (Which is probably why I love this village so much). Aside from olives, they also sell other olive products (oil, soaps etc) at a very affordable price.
  • Shop – We bought at least 6 bottles of wine (really cheap compared to other places), some tea, spices and olives.
